Do I need to know how to code?

No. Install the plugin, add your AI key and your business info, and turn on the widget. Everything is point-and-click.

Which AI does it use?

Your choice of OpenAI or Anthropic — you bring your own key, so you stay in control of usage and cost.

Will it make up prices or facts?

No. The assistant answers only from the business information you provide, so it never invents prices or promises.

Is it GDPR-friendly?

Yes — it includes GDPR consent, spam protection and reCAPTCHA, and works alongside your cookie-consent banner.

How does it capture leads?

With the premium Upgrade, the bot collects names, emails and phone numbers inside the chat, notifies you instantly, and logs them to a Contact Requests dashboard.

Can I try it before setting up my own AI key?

Yes — we can send you a free demo API code so you can test the chatbot on your own site or a demo site before going live with your own key.

Workspace

What exactly is the Workspace?

It's the command center for your AI-powered business — a connected dashboard for conversations, contacts, calendar, content and social, all synced with your A1 AI Chatbot.

Do I need the desktop app?

The Workspace connector runs on your WordPress site; the desktop app (Mac or Windows) is how you and your team access and manage it day to day.

Which tools does Workspace connect to?

Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, HubSpot, ClickUp, SuiteCRM, WordPress and IMAP email — with more integrations added regularly.

Does it replace my CRM?

For most small businesses, yes — Workspace includes built-in contacts, so every lead your chatbot captures is already organized and searchable.

Is my data synced in real time?

Yes — conversations, contacts and site content sync continuously, so your dashboard and your AI are always working from the same up-to-date information.

Do I need Workspace to use the free chatbot?

No — the A1 AI Chatbot works on its own. Workspace is what turns it into a full business operations hub.

What's included in the done-for-you services?

Chatbot setup, website design, SEO/AEO, paid ads, email & outreach automation, lead sourcing, Workspace-connected CRM & reporting, monthly content, and a dedicated account manager — bundled under one managed plan.

Do I have to sign a contract?

No. Every plan and every service is month to month and you can cancel any time. The only commitment is finishing one full month of any service you start — that’s so there’s actually time to do the work and measure whether it moved anything.

Do you offer a trial?

Yes — a 14-day free trial so you can see the system running before you commit.

What’s the difference between the $99/year upgrade and the $99/month managed plan?

The $99/year upgrade is the premium plugin — you install it, configure it and run it yourself. The $99/month managed plan is us doing all of that for you, and it includes the AI Workspace at no extra cost.

Do I pay $499 for the Workspace on top of a managed service?

No. The Workspace is included free with any managed service. The $499/month price is only for running the desktop app standalone, without us managing anything.

Can I switch between services?

Yes, and people do. Run Google Ads one month, SEO the next, then swap again. Nothing is locked in beyond the month you started — you just can’t start a service and stop it halfway through.

Setup & Support

My API key says invalid.

Double-check you copied the full key from OpenAI with no extra spaces, and that it hasn't been revoked.

I'm getting a rate limit error.

You've hit OpenAI's usage limits for your account tier — add a payment method or request a limit increase from OpenAI.

The chatbot isn't showing on my site.

Confirm the global widget is turned on, or that you've added the [a1ai_chatbot id="1"] shortcode to the page.

Can I customize how it looks?

Yes — colors, fonts, icons, the welcome message and button labels are all customizable in the chatbot's Appearance settings.

What if I'd rather not do this myself?

Our team offers complete managed setup and configuration, starting at $99 — just get in touch.

Ecosystem & Affiliates

What's the difference between a la carte and a package?

A la carte lets you pay for individual products as you need them. Packages bundle the Workspace and related tools together at a fixed monthly or yearly price — usually the better value once you're using more than one product.

Can I upgrade later?

Yes — most businesses start with the free chatbot and upgrade through the ecosystem as they grow. There's no penalty for starting small.

What if I'm not sure which package fits?

Book a free consultation — we'll look at your business and recommend the right starting point.

Is there a cost to join the affiliate program?

No — joining the A1 Ai Digital Affiliate Program is completely free.

How do my referrals get 10% off?
